Therapeutic Massage and Its Benefits

What Can I Expect From My Massage Session?

Your massage sessions is always specifically designed for you and you can expect highly personalized caring attention to relax and restore you to your best self. At all times, you are in charge of your session and you may ask questions or request changes to your session. On your first visit, you will be asked to fill out a confidential Health History Form and Client Waiver Form. You will also be asked some general questions to assess your particular situation and the reason for your visit.

Where Will My Massage Session Take Place?

Your massage session will take place in a private peaceful therapy room where you will be treated on a comfortable, relaxing massage table.  Soft music and ocean sounds will be played throughout your session to soothe and relax you (you may specify a music selection if you like).  Depending on your preferences, organic massage lotions or oils (or both) will be used in the application of your massage treatment.  Hot towels and a heated table warmer are provided for comfort in your session.

Will I Be Left In Private To Undress? To What Level Should I Undress? Will I Be Covered During My Session?

When you enter the therapy room you will be left in privacy to undress and lie under the provided covers of the massage table until you are ready for the session to begin. You may undress fully or to your comfort level. It is completely up to you. Your body will be draped appropriately and covered by clean soft sheets and a blanket, and only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What Parts Of My Body Will Be Massaged and Worked On?

Only the body part(s) that are part of the massage will be worked on and exposed, one section at a time as the massage progresses. Proper draping will be used at all times. At no time will any private area ever be exposed or touched or part of any massage session. If there is a particular area that you would prefer not to be addressed (your feet or face for example) you are absolutely free to say so.

What Should I Do During The Massage Session?

Once you are situated and ready for your massage to begin all you have to do for the remaining time of your session is to lie back and relax. You may talk and ask questions or you may choose to silently drift off into a light sleep. The time is yours and it is completely up to you. Always be sure to mention if you wish a change in pressure whether it be too light or too strong. Your comfort level is the priority at all times.

What Happens When My Massage Session Is Finished? How Will I Feel?

Once your massage session has come to an end you will be left alone in private in the therapy room to slowly bring yourself back to awareness and redress. It is perfectly normal to feel a bit foggy after a session. Purified water will be provided for you after your session and it is important to continue to hydrate once you leave the wellness practice. After any massage, toxins that have been built up are released into the bloodstream and drinking plenty of healthy beverages will flush them out in a short period of time. Sometimes, particularly after a massage session involving deep tissue work, it is normal to feel some pain and discomfort for a day or two following your visit. At the time of your visit we can discuss some options that might help alleviate any post massage soreness.
